Working Student Thermal Engineering (all genders)

Intern / Student, Part-time · Munich

Your mission
  • Generate geometric designs with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for the volume and mass optimization of components for highly integrated battery systems within the wing of the VÆRIDION Microliner.
  • Design and analyse fluid systems, including pipe flow for thermal management of battery systems.
  • Conduct FEA and CFD studies (thermal, mechanical, electrical, thermomechanical, etc.) on various battery module components to find the optimum manufacturing, geometric, and/or material solutions.
  • Participate hands-on with the manufacturing and assembly of components for testing, prototypes, and demonstrators. This will involve preparing specimens for thermal runaway testing as well as interactions with external machine shops, rapid prototyping, adhesive bonding, simple composite manufacturing, etc.
  • Interface directly with material suppliers, manufacturers, and testing partners.
Your profile
  • Studying engineering in aerospace, mechanical, materials, or similar.
  • Conceptual-level knowledge of aircraft components and systems.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g. Catia, SolidWorks, and/or Siemens NX).
  • Experience with programming for analysis and optimization (Matlab, Python, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience in fluid mechanics and thermal systems.
  • Familiarity with CFD and CHT simulations.
  • Experience in pipe flow analysis and design.
  • Manufacturing interest and experience/knowledge of composites, metals & additive manufacturing (polymers and metals).
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team as well as autonomously.
  • Target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills required.
  •  English language working level proficiency is a must.

About us
VÆRIDION is a fast-growing deep tech start-up based in Munich, Germany. Since the restrictions by law on CO2 emissions for domestic and short-haul air travel will stimulate Green Regional Air Mobility, we believe it's our mission to provide an aircraft for Zero emission regional flights.
At VÆRIDION our goal is to develop, build and certify a full electric microliner carrying up to 9 passengers for Short-Haul and Regional Air Mobility by 2030. A full electric microliner is cleaner and cheaper to operate than other aeroplanes in its class, it  provides a better travel experience door to door up to 500 km. We offer new optimized design based on proven principles, around  proven and available technology in electric motors and batteries, that brings lowest risk and shortest route to certification.
